Gallery Space
For Local Artists
Guidelines for the use of display space in the Volunteer Room
Levi Heywood Memorial Library
55 West Lynde Street
Gardner, MA 01440
As a public service the Levi Heywood Memorial Library makes gallery space available to area artists for display of their work.
- The space is booked for a one month period, no more than one year in advance, using the GALLERY SPACE APPLICATION form available from the Library Director.
- In order to give more artists display space, individuals may display in the gallery no more than once in a twelve month period, unless as part of a group show.
- Displays are limited in format and size to items which can be hung from the picture moldings already in place, or on the counter space in the room. Two tables can also be made available for literature or three dimensional items.
- Artists set up and dismantle their own displays. Hooks are provided.
- Prices may be displayed on items but sales and inquiries are to be handled by the individual artist, not the Levi Heywood Memorial Library.
- Each artist or group will provide the Library with a brief biography of the artist(s) and/or publicity information. The Library will be responsible for forwarding the information to The Gardner News.
- The length of time materials are displayed will coincide as much as possible to calendar months. (i.e. March 1- March 31)
- Arrangements for "openings" will be handled on a case by case basis but will usually need to coincide with regular library hours.
- Requests from non-local artists will be handled on a case by case basis with the final decision being made by the Library Director.
THE LIBRARY ASSUMES NO RESPOSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE OR THEFT OF MATERIALS ON DISPLAY.
