The mission of the Friends of the Levi Heywood Memorial Library is:

• to establish a closer relationship between the Library and the patrons it serves
• to focus public attention on library services, facilities, and needs
• to promote the use and enjoyment of the Library
• to develop supplemental funding
• to provide overall support of the Library

Membership

New members to the Friends group are always welcome. Please see Children’s Room Staff with questions, or call 978-632-5298 and ask for the Children’s Room. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Friends Board, please call Interim Director Tammy Caissie, or Assistant Director Gina Verrelli. The Friends are always looking for members who are willing to be active and supportive.

The Friends membership runs the calendar year . New and former members are always welcome to join. Membership forms are available in the Library's Children's Department as well as on-line. Click here for the membership form.

Book Sales

The Friends hold two book sales a year. A number of different items can be found at the sale including books, DVDs and CDs, the occasional puzzle, and even board games. Each book sale brings a new mixture of materials so check our Calendar for the dates and times of the next sale.

Effective 3/23/2023 we are happy to once again accept book sale donations during regular library hours (limit of 3 boxes per household per day).

Donations for Book Sales

We are happy to accept used books, CDs and DVDs that are in good condition.

Sorry, we are unable to accept:

• Textbooks
• Reader's Digest Condensed Books
• Magazines
• Encyclopedias
• VHS
• Cassette Tapes

We are also unable to accept items that are in poor condition because they are torn, marked, smell unpleasant, or are dirty.

How to donate used materials:

• If you have books or other materials to donate you may bring them to the Circulation Desk on the main floor of the library during regular operating hours. We accept donations year-round.  (Donations will be checked by staff for acceptance)
• If you bring in more than one or two books at a time, they should be in a bag or a box.
• Please do not put donations in the bookdrop.*
• All donations become the property of the library and may be added to the library collection or sold by the Friends of the Library.
  

  *It costs us staff time and money to dispose of items that are left in or outside the bookdrop. All library entrances are now monitored. We appreciate your cooperation.
